Year 2 curriculum

This term, our topic is 'Pirates'. Please click here to see an overview of what we will be learning this year. You can find out more detailed infomation by visiting our Curriculum Information Documents for Year 2.

Year 1 and 2 common exception words - children need to be able to read and spell these words by the end of Year 2

PE

Our PE days are Monday and Thursday. Please ensure that your child has their full kit with them on both days. You may wish to include tracksuit bottoms as the weather is getting colder and we will be outside for PE as long as the weather permits. Please be reminded that earrings should not be worn on PE days and only stud earrings should be worn to school on other days. If it is not possible to remove earrings, tape should be provided from home and your child should be able to put this on themselves.

Home learning

Reading books are changed on a Monday and a Thursday. Please read daily with your child and sign their reading record regularly.

Homework will be set online this year using Microsoft Teams and MyMaths. We will set this work on Wednesdays and it will be due in on Mondays.

Phonics - these are the sounds we will be focusing on each week. Please do as much additional phonics practise as you can with your child in preparation for the phonics screening check that will take place during term 2.
